Babel Audio works with some of the biggest technology companies in the world and thousands of participants globally to collect the audio data that will train the next generation of AI models.

About the Role

We’re looking for detail-oriented individuals with backgrounds in transcription, linguistics, journalism, writing, editing, subtitling, or captioning primarily in English.

In this role, you’ll transcribe and annotate audio recordings that capture a wide range of speaking styles, paralinguistic cues, and emotional nuances. Beyond standard transcription, you’ll take the work a step further by accurately tagging these elements to enrich the data for speech AI advancement.

This is a fully remote, freelance position that offers complete flexibility in when and how much you work.

About You

• Fluent in English, with excellent grammar, listening, and editing skills
• Prior experience in at least one of the following: transcription, linguistics, journalism, writing, editing, subtitling, or captioning
• Meticulous attention to detail and the ability to follow nuanced guidelines
• Reliable computer and stable internet connection
• Comfortable working independently and motivated by quality benchmarks

Compensation

• $90 per transcribed audio hour
• Additional performance-based incentives may be available

Responsibilities

• Review and refine transcripts for grammar, punctuation, formatting, and accuracy
• Annotate transcripts for varying paralinguistic cues and speaking styles
• Flag and document transcription issues (e.g., mishears, inaudibles) to help improve content quality

Technical Requirements

• Laptop or desktop computer (tablets and phones not supported)
• Headphones or earphones for clear audio playback

Rates are determined by the number of audio hours you transcribe and apply specifically to this project within the United States. If your application is accepted for a different Babel Audio project, the compensation rate may vary. For more details, please refer to our Terms of Use or Privacy Policy.
